Sustainability

Let’s make a difference!

RANZCO is on a mission to make sure our Congress is held in an environmentally sustainable way. From the way we choose our venue partners, to the food we provide, we are taking a collaborative approach. We encourage all stakeholders to play a part in a sustainable future.

Sustainability Sunday will see all catering breaks go green with a plant-based menu on offer.

Eating more plant-based meals is better for the planet, and the PCEC also works hard to use local ingredients to reduce food mileage i.e. how far each ingredient must travel to go from its sources to your plate!

To assist delegates in washing their reusable cups, we’re providing automatic wash stations at the Sustainability Booth in the Exhibition Hall. It will be the most sustainable 30-seconds of the Congress.

We also encourage all attendees to bring their own water bottles.

Done with your lanyards? Look out for these Terracycle Bins to recycle your lanyards instead of disposing them into landfill. Terracycle works to separate the different components of your lanyard to create new materials for manufacturing.

The Terracycle Bin can be found at the registration desk.

We encourage you to join us in our journey to be more climate conscious and to nurture our native biodiversity. To do so, go to your registration form and click on “Carbon Offset”.

Please contact us at RANZCO@thinkbusinessevents.com.au if you are facing any difficulty locating the option to purchase on your registration form.

  • Encouraging employees and visitors to reduce their carbon footprint by utilising the many public transport options available to them
  • The venue is located in the Free Transit Zone (FTZ) where you can board a free bus service that operates around the CBD. These buses are called CATS or Central Area Transport Service.
  • Visit Transperth to learn more about CATS and plan your journey.
  • Providing clearly labelled, separate waste bins
  • Educating staff to use appropriate disposal methods
  • Composting all food waste and coffee grounds
  • Using local produce, where possible, to reduce food miles and associated energy emissions
  • Using local suppliers, where possible, to support local and increase engagement amongst the community
  • Displaying signage on buffets, highlighting what happens to our organic waste
  • Working with environmentally responsible suppliers, products, and services. Some examples:
    • Donating 10 cents to ‘Containers for Change’ for every drink container recycled
    • Supplying excess food items to OzHarvest
    • Learning about partnering suppliers’ own sustainability efforts
  • Supporting fundraising events hosted at PCEC
  • Encouraging clients to include an Acknowledgement of Country and providing information to clients wishing to engage a First Nations representative for a Welcome to Country cultural experience
  • Partnering with Stanley College providing the opportunity for students to attend a 10 week practical training course for ‘Cert III Commercial Cookery’ This has resulted in employment opportunities at PCEC for students

  • Book your accommodation within walking distance and take in the sights by walking to the venue
  • Why not cycle to the venue if you’re based in Perth? PCEC provides secure parking for bicycles as well as shower and change room facilities
  • Know others who are attending the Meeting? Plan to carpool or Uber share
  • Carbon offset your flights to and from Perth if travelling by air

Bring a reusable cup and use the automated wash station at the Sustainability Booth in the Exhibition Hall. In just 30 seconds, your cup is ready for a refill!

Enjoy the plant-based menu on offer during Sustainability Sunday. Remember to bring your own refillable water bottle and reusable coffee cup!
